78% of American workers would rather receive a gift for the holidays over an invite to an office party, a new survey has revealed
Carl Atwell from Lands' End Business Outfitters, the company behind the survey, said that the holidays are a great time to show staff how much they are appreciated, and while an office party is lots of fun, the idea of a gift makes people feel more appreciated.
According to the study, 73% of employers do get their staff a gift for the Christmas season and most will spend up to $50 on each employee.
November seems to be the prime time for selecting and ordering gifts, with 56% of survey respondents saying they start shopping in this month.
When it comes to choosing the right gift for staff the study found that 23% of people prefer gift cards.
It also discovered that most employees get their boss a present. 36% of people said they contribute to a group gift for their manager, while 30% buy something individually.
