Enjoying Sparkling Wine Season

Come November, a faint fizz fills the air as sparkling wine fills glasses right across Australia. The nation's thirst for sparkling wine steps up a notch with the little bubbles signifying it's time to party at Melbourne Cup and continues on until well after the festive season.

According to Lifestyle Food, there are many variations of sparkling wine, with the top end being wine from Tasmania and Champagne in France. Sparkling wines love a cool climate and these regions are ideal for producing spectacular sparkling wines.

Most sparkling wines are derived from grapes such as Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, but for Australia, it's all about the sparkling Shiraz. Its flavours are big and bold and the bubbly is quickly becoming a firm favourite all over the world.

Sparkling Shiraz makes the ideal accompaniment for the traditional Christmas roast and is delicious served chilled. The sweet, fruity nature of many sparkling wines means they also go well oysters and other types of seafood.
