Delivering Random Acts of Kindness with Not Quite Nigella

good-a

At Good Food Gift Card, we love the festive season because it involves two of our favourite things: great food and giving gifts! We wanted to get into the spirit by sharing some foodie gifts with people who deserved a ‘random act of kindness’ so we partnered with someone else who knows good food – celebrity food blogger Lorraine Elliott of Not Quite Nigella.

We put a call out on the Good Food Gift Card Facebook page, and foodie fans everywhere nominated their loved ones to receive a special gift. We proceeded to play Santa by surprising them at their homes and workplaces with a Good Food Gift Card and a Gourmet Hamper, personally delivered by Not Quite Nigella. From supportive boyfriends and neighbours, to dedicated sisters and co-workers, their stories and reactions were equally inspiring.

Check out the original nominations of these deserving below and be sure to be kept in the loop for our future Random Acts of Kindness by following us on Facebook and Instagram.

1. Andy (nominated by his girlfriend, Shannon)

good-b

“I would like to nominate my boyfriend Andy… I was diagnosed with cancer this year and just recently finished treatment. During chemo he would come to the hospital every day, work at night to financially support us, cook, clean and look after me. Although he was incredibly exhausted, he would never dream of mentioning it. He is a very special person who helped get me through such a tough process.”

2. Christina (nominated by her sister, Yuliana)

good-c

“I nominate my sister Christina, as ever since the kids came along 8 years ago, I don't think she has ever had a date night with hubby. I'll throw in free babysitting if she wins!”

3. Keely (nominated by her colleague, Irena)

good-d

“Keely is an amazing person. She's been so supportive of me throughout the year, through good times and bad, and I can't think of anyone better to receive a random act of kindness as she gives random acts of kindness to the people around her all the time. I just really wanted to give her and her family something special this holiday season!”

4. Belle (nominated by her friend, Will)

good-e

“I’m nominating Belle as a worthy person to be acknowledged as someone who is forever unleashing unexpected acts of kindness upon people. Belle and I are friends, and yet for no payment of any kind she designed the sign for my piano teaching business that is fixed to the front of my house. Also, considering the involvement of Not Quite Nigella with the Good Food Gift Card, it seems fitting to mention Belle’s unexpected acts of kindness in the form of her cooking — I have been to countless parties at Belle’s place where she has cooked for numerous friends of friends, many of whom had only met her once or twice before.”

5. Kelly (nominated by her neighbour, Wendy)

good-f

“I nominate Kelly who was my neighbour where I lived. Recently I had to have two surgeries and she offered to make me some fresh and frozen meals when I got home from hospital. She is a hardworking mother with a toddler. Her generosity brought tears to my eyes. She even called and got in touch every day to get me through the tough days I was having. She is a beautiful friend.”
